9 out of 10 Suffer from Headaches

The American Chiropractic Association--

Nine out of ten Americans suffer from headaches. Some are occasional, some frequent, some are dull and throbbing and some cause debilitating pain and nausea. What do you do when you suffer from a pounding headache? Do you grit your teeth and carry on? Lie down? Pop a pill and hope the pain goes away? If you frequently experience headaches, ACA suggests the following:

Headaches can often be more than a pain, making it hard to concentrate on anything but the pounding, throbbing, or dull ache inside your head. What kind of headaches do you suffer from and what causes them? We asked Dr. Elizabeth Loder, chief of the Division of Headache and Pain in the Department of Neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, to dissect seven common headache scenarios and their triggers...

-Research shows that chiropractic can be very effective in relieving headaches caused by tension in the neck.
-If you spend a large amount of time in one fixed position, such as in front of a computer, take a break and stretch every 30 minutes to one hour.
-Avoid heavy exercise. Instead, try walking or low-impact aerobics.
-Avoid teeth clenching. The upper teeth should never touch the lowers, expect when swallowing.
-Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day to help avoid dehydration, which can lead to headaches.

As we all know, premature births (births before 37 weeks of pregnancy) can lead to health complications. Some dangers include underdeveloped lungs, bleeding in the brain, kidney problems, and vision/hearing impairment. However, the consumption of fish and shellfish may decrease the chances of a preterm birth and the complications that come with it.

Confirmed! Flu Vaccine INCREASES Risk of Serious Pandemic Flu Illness

By Dr. Mercola

The best way to fight ALL infections is Vitamin D! There are other at home practices that can help too.

According to the Vancouver Sun, “Researchers, led by Vancouver’s Dr. Danuta Skowronski, an influenza expert at the B.C. Center for Disease Control, noticed in the early weeks of the [2009 H1N1] pandemic that people who got a flu shot for the 2008-2009 winter seemed to be more likely to get infected with the pandemic virus than people who hadn’t received a flu shot. Five studies done in several provinces showed the same unsettling results.”

An infection from one type of viral strain can create a natural immune defense in the body against numerous types of viral strains. This creates a broad defense so the body can fight off lots of infections. Vaccines were thought to create this same effect. However, for some vaccines, this may not be true. The flu vaccine is showing to be one of them. There are components of a vaccine that may be causing harmful effects to the immune system and body overall.

October=Allergies

It's that time of year again! Seasonal allergies can hit anyone, at anytime.

Neck Misalignment can produce or exaggerate allergic symptoms via control over airway dilation and immune responses. Many allergic reactions are due to hypersensitivity of the immune system and/or respiratory response (allergy attack, asthma attack, coughing attack, skin rash) to something in the environment such as dust, pollen, grass, etc.

"Rachel" (name changed to protect patient privacy) has had issues with breathing sine she was seven months old. Prior to adjustmetns, she was treating allergies and asthma with multiple medications, steroids, inhalers, and nebulizer treatments. Since seeing Dr. Bob, Rachel has been able to greatly reduce the medicines she is on. She now only takes Singulair and uses her inhaler and nebulizer as needed. The exacerbation of her asthma has been less often and she rarely needs to be on oral steroids, which in the past have been quite frequent.

The immune and respiratory systems depend upon normal communication from the brain and spinal cord throughout the body. A disruption in the communication can contribute to malfunctions in body systems, ending in allergies!
